Doodle generations
F1
First Generation Crosses - (F1) are the offspring of two distinct breeds, i.e. a poodle father with a labrador retriever mother. These first generation dogs profit from hybrid vigor, tending to be stronger and healthier than either of their parent breeds. The body and coat type of these dogs can vary widely across the range exhibited by their parents, but typically they have a good mix. In doodles, the calm nature of poodles mixes well with the friendliness of labs and goldens to make ideal pets.
F1B
First Generation Back-cross (F1B) are the result of breeding an F1 dog with a pure-bred. In labradoodles and goldendoodles this is typically done by crossing an F1 labradoodle or goldendoodle with a poodle to insure that the F1B pups have a non-shedding, hypo-allergenic coat like the poodle.
Multigens
Multigenerational Labradoodles - are the result of crossing labradoodles with labradoodles over several generations to create a new breed. The breed standard is maintained by the International Labradoodle Association (ILA) and national level associations in several countries.
